LLAW’s WORLD of EL NUCLEAR DIABLO

“End All Nuclear Insanity Before All Nuclear Insanity Ends Our Humanity.” ~llaw

This old 1930s era “Alley Oop” cartoon tells us where uranium nuclear fuel originally came from and the every day dangers of it even before we knew it existed or for what purpose. ~llaw

Today’s daily post on “All Things Nuclear World Today” opinion on current nuclear concerns is to inform my followers and readers that I will be dramatically altering its present course over the cliff that millions of us are collectively marching toward that will likely eventually and soon destroy us unless we find a better path in another direction. I have been on that path for years and invite you all to come along with a new breath of fresh air.

For three years I have devoted myself to a daily warning to all reachable humanity, whether they listen or not, of the perilous pro-nuclear thoughtless headlong journey we are deadset on that I define as ending our human and other existential living critters on Mother Nature’s planet Earth by either nuclear war or nuclear energy, or both.

My work has awakened, comparative to human lives, very few souls that I know of, so my present labor of love and hope is not doing its intended job — obviously failing at my expense, time, and ego, consuming what’s left of my life and times at a moment when I don’t have many more years out there ahead of me. But just know — I will never give up following the anti-nuclear path of nuclear enlightenment that I am on — because that is the road that gives me hope for us all.

So it is that I will continue posting the unique daily news from “LLAW’s All Nuclear Daily Digest” — but without personal commentary — for those who have followed my blog posts for all three years and who know and understand the importance of it and how it works — using and posting important daily nuclear news from 6 categories plus a 7th relative to the Yellowstone Caldera.

This additional new blog post, under the title LLAW’s WORLD of El NUCLEAR DIABLO will be a weekly personal anti-nuclear rant or perhaps at other times a fictional or predictive thought or two about the varied “all things nuclear” that the world needs to know about including thoughts related to the entire scope of “nuclear” definitions, some of which may be about human psychology and other relatively new non-nuclear issues.

I am not sure what day of the week I will post the weekly “El Nuclear Diablo” , but I am leaning toward either a Friday summary of it all or a Monday refresher concept. I suspect that either way they will be similar in their subjective nature.

Briefly, for those of you who don’t know me or are not familiar with my work in the nuclear industry over three decades, I am a retired uranium and nuclear industry executive as well as president of an exploration minerals evaluation company of my own. I am retired now and spend most of my time writing fictional novels, one of which is “coincidentally” draft-named ““El Nuclear Diablo”, llolloll!

But it is my old age that prompts me to modify my daily posting of opinion about the overall nuclear industry. I will be 84 years old on November 23rd, and am forced to finally recognize that my days are limited and my time for convincing the world that “all things nuclear” are not in the best interests of humanity nor for innocent other life on planet Earth, and that, in my opinion, if we continue to use anything nuclear for whatever reason in the near future it will be the end of human and other life on planet Earth . . .

Russia Dumps US Nuclear Deal, Reclaims 34 Tons of Weapons-Grade Plutonium

See the “United 24” article below for image description and image credits ~llaw

On My Mind Today: It’s time to get serious . . .

The problem with the inherent dangerous nature of nuclear energy is that in the U.S. — and a few other countries — more than 80% of the population likes the idea of nuclear power but, at the same time, more than 80% have no idea what it is or where it comes from. And certainly the nuclear industry nor federal governments are going to educate us about this drastically pathetic situation — nor are we, as individual sentient human beings, going to educate ourselves. Such a lack of effort to learn is, in my humble opinion, a serious but curable disease and a known serious mental disorder.

Over the last few years since I began this blog I have occasionally posted on my Facebook page this small scroll to try to raise awareness, not in disdain, but in hope that we will force ourselves to wake up in order to save not only our individual selves, but others, including innocent animal life, that have nothing to do with what seems to be a future deadset on self-extermination . . .

No photo description available.

These basic extremely limited knowledge statistics are how and why I know that we humans have no idea what we are doing by even thinking of considering the idea that believing — even knowing that nuclear weapons can kill us all — the possibility or probability of nuclear power is a “good” thing is nothing more than wishful thinking.

The potential of nuclear war and many, many, more than the few nuclear “accidents” we know about around the world beyond “Three Mile Island”, “Chernobyl”, “Fukushima”, and “Windscale” should tell us that 8 out of 10 of us are walking down the wrong trail that will lead themselves and the rest of us — including our furred and feathered friends — over the cliff to oblivion.

Russia has officially terminated a bilateral agreement with the United States on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium, a move that further deepens the dismantling of nuclear arms control frameworks between the two countries.

According to the Russian State-owned news-agency TASS, the Russian Parliament passed passed legislation on October 8 denouncing the 2000 agreement that obligated both Russia and the US to each dispose of 34 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium, material deemed excessive for defense needs.

The agreement was ratified in 2011 and intended to convert the plutonium into fuel for nuclear power plants.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that “preserving Russia’s obligations under the plutonium agreement with the United States is no longer acceptable under current conditions.”

According to TASS, Ryabkov also reiterated that Russia’s conditions for restoring the deal—such as the repeal of sanctions and the Magnitsky Act —remain unmet.

A supporting document submitted to parliament cited “a fundamental change in circumstances,” including NATO expansion, US sanctions, and American support for Ukraine, as justification for the formal withdrawal.

Although the treaty remained technically in force, Russia had already suspended its participation in 2016. At the time, the Kremlin accused Washington of failing to meet its obligations and introduced unrelated political demands, including the rollback of NATO infrastructure and the repeal of US sanctions imposed following the 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Who Holds Nuclear Weapons Today and How Russia is Undermining the Non-Proliferation Treaty

Jul 01, 2025 11:29

The agreement was one of the early nuclear arms control arrangements pursued after Vladimir Putin’s first presidential term began. Although not on the scale of treaties like New START, the last remaining arms control pact with the United States, the agreement was seen as a practical step toward reducing nuclear threats by repurposing surplus plutonium.

The formal termination of the plutonium agreement means that the 34 tons of weapons-grade plutonium that Russia was meant to render unusable for weapons could now potentially be redirected back into its military stockpile. As noted in the Duma’s official explanatory note, further obligations related to this material are considered “inexpedient.”

Earlier, report says that Russia remained the top supplier of enriched uranium to the United States in 2024, providing 20% of the fuel used in American nuclear reactors, Bloomberg reported on September 30. This occurred despite a formal US import ban signed in May, with waivers still allowing deliveries through 2028 in cases of national interest or lack of alternatives.

The following “Newsweek” article relevant to the Russia/Ukraine war is not posted for the probable lies that go back and forth about who did what to one another’s nuclear power plants, but rather to expand on my very serious alert that any nuclear power plant anywhere — including the entire North American continent — is a what I refer to nuclear power plants as “sitting duck” nuclear bombs.

Keep in mind that nuclear power plants are never-ending threats to death by nuclear meltdown radiation, nuclear waste issues, and criminal activities on both small to world-size scales, and include international wars of course, but also include human and/or AI incompetency, equipment and facility failures, and accidental nuclear meltdowns, all kinds of terrorism, and black markets buying and selling of nuclear fuel for weapons, financial gain, and control of activities of all kinds of community-driven governmental suppression and oppression. And it will not solve our ever-growing climate change and global warming problem.

This added lack of human technical and intelligence capacity together with criminal and terrorist activity is what makes this post so important for this entire world of never-ending apathy and lack of knowledge about “All Things Nuclear” and why that puts the whole world in danger of sending ourselves over the cliff to self-extinction.

The point is easy to understand and the Russian/Ukraine war clearly tells us why. The tune goes something like this: “Regardless of war or peace, if nuclear war and bombs don’t annihilate us, nuclear power plants will. ~llaw

A state-run Russian nuclear energy company accused Ukraine of striking the cooling tower of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant with a drone overnight into Tuesday.

Newsweek has contacted the Ukrainian Air Force for comment.

Rosenergoatom, which operates the nuclear plant, said in a statement posted to Telegram that the drone “detonated” after being “suppressed by technical means” and colliding with the cooling tower.

The incident highlights the severe nuclear risks posed by the war between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides hosting nuclear power plants affected by the fighting.

“There were no damages or casualties; however, a dark mark remained on the cooling tower from the detonation’s effects,” Rosenergoatom said in its statement, originally in Russian.

“The safe operation of the nuclear power plant is ensured. The radiation background at the Novovoronezh NPP industrial site and the surrounding area has not changed and remains at natural levels. Law enforcement agencies are working at the site.”

It said the plant’s operations were unaffected.

“This is yet another act of aggression by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russian nuclear power plants. Earlier, there had been attempts to strike key facilities of the Kursk and Smolensk NPPs,” the Rosenergoatom statement added.

Newsweek has contacted the U.N.’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for comment.

Zelensky: Russia Deliberately Creating Threat of Radiation Incidents

Ukraine has previously accused Russia of reckless attacks around its nuclear sites, such as at Zaporizhzhia—currently occupied by Russia—and Chernobyl.

“Russia is deliberately creating the threat of radiation incidents,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said late Wednesday after a Russian attack on the energy grid left the Chernobyl nuclear plant without power for several hours.

Both Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia are not currently operational, but they require a constant power supply to run crucial cooling systems for spent fuel rods in order to avoid a potential nuclear incident.

A blackout could also blind radiation monitoring systems installed to boost security at Chernobyl and operated by the IAEA.

Zelensky criticized the IAEA’s “weak” response to Russian strikes.

“Every day of Russia’s war, every strike on our energy facilities, including those connected to nuclear safety, is a global threat,” he said. “Weak and half-measures will not work. Strong action is needed.”

The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War said Russia’s occupation of Zaporizhzhia has “significantly degraded” the security of the plant, Europe’s biggest and one of the 10 biggest nuclear facilities in the world.
