LAW’s All Things Nuclear Thoughts for Today . . .

While I appreciate the belief of the nuclear uneducated and uninformed that nuclear energy is going to even lessen, alleviate, or cure the global warming/climate change issue we continue to face every day, our pipe-dreams could not be more wrong, and implausible in so many ways.

The formal climate change process began in 1992 and the 1st annual meeting began in 1995, hence the “30”, meaning this is the 30th year. To make a long story short, the annual conference, and especially the idea of nuclear power lending a hand — has never yet and never will be environmentally successful in reducing the problem of CO2 and other greenhouse gasses constantly streaming up into the Earth’s atmosphere. Big ideas and wishful thinking are all these annual meetings have ever generated, and neither will this “nuclear one” produce anything but more of the same. But, there are also other extensive issues that make it the worst fuel of any kind on planet Earth . . .

Even given a slight reduction in greenhouse gasses, nuclear energy is the very worst possible way of trying to “clear the air” and improve our attempt to get rid of fossil fuels, and only human conservatism and renewable resources like solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal power generation will ever solve the CO2 problem. Nuclear power should be forever outlawed along with coal, oil, gas, uranium, together with minor waste such as wood, old tires, and dump fires.

Uranium — the fuel for nuclear reactors — has its own waste problems, like nuclear plant failures for their many reasons causing nuclear fallout drifting with the wind, waste storage, massive open pit mining projects with heavy equipment pouring tons of atmospheric waste, and then there are nuclear trafficking, theft and terrorism, and stationary nuclear power plants are now (e.g. the Russia/Ukraine war) subject to weapons of war in conventional or even nuclear war.

And, oh, did I mention the incredible cost to construct and operate nuclear power plants and the eventual cost of producing nuclear fuel (uranium) as, much like other fossil fuels, but even more expensive? Uranium is also more subject to depletion than the other CO2+ energy producing fossil fuels.

So. it seems, nuclear power is not only really, really, bad for every reason imaginable; it is also far and away the most expensive, poisonous, and dangerous product to not only humans, but most all life, on planet Earth. ~llaw

TODAY’s LLAW’s NUCLEAR WORLD NEWS

About Today’s Nuclear News and How it Works:

There are 7 categories, including a bonus non-nuclear category for news about the Yellowstone caldera and other volcano and caldera activity around the world that also play an important role in the survival of human and other life.

If there was no news from a Category today, the Category will not appear. The Categories are listed below in their usual order:

  1. All Things Nuclear
  2. Nuclear Power
  3. Nuclear Power Emergencies
  4. Nuclear War Threats
  5. Nuclear War
  6. Yellowstone Caldera
  7. IAEA News (Friday’s only)

A current Digest of major nuclear media headlines with automated links is listed below by nuclear Category (in the above listed order).
