A drone strike has damaged a protective shield at the Chornobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine, rendering it unable to contain the radioactive material from the 1986 explosion of the plant, the United Nations nuclear watchdog said. This on top of the already multiple Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia plant and the long ago disaster of Chernobyl has come back to haunt us by Russia’s act of war. And not to be outdone, Ukraine has attacked at least one nuclear power plant in Russian . . .
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Friday that the shield can no longer perform its main safety function, following an inspection of the steel structure last week.

LAW’s Thoughts about Todays’ Nuclear World . . .
The location of this frightening news of the “dead but still dangerous” Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine is incredibly clear proof to why we should not be attempting to, or even thinking about, the very idea of bringing new nuclear power plants on line. What we should be thinking about is demanding existing ones to be shut down, moth-balled, and buried deep beneath the Earth.
The reason is obvious: Nuclear power plants have become weapons of nuclear war, and we damn well ought to recognize that by now. This is the 2nd Ukraine power plant to be attacked in less than four years, sometimes multiple, as in the case of the Zaporizhzhia facility, by the destructive nature of the Russia/Ukraine war , and we ought to realize what would happen to nuclear power plants around the globe in the event of nuclear war, or of even conventional war — as the Russia/Ukraine war is considered to be, but obviously is not.
And “lord knows”, we are independent nations in a warring world of reckless and dangerous attacks on our neighbors, and if we’re not attacking them these days, we are threating to do so. This is infantile suicide.
So the huge overriding question is, how and why is nuclear power becoming the darling “savior” of humanity, while conversely nuclear weapons of mass destruction are feared internationally everywhere on the planet. We are not a straight-thinking people, obviously. If we were, we would hate and fear bot uses of “all things nuclear” instead of fearing one and loving the other.
The answer to our survival — as well as other innocent life forms on planet Earth — is to rid ourselves of “All Things Nuclear”. Yet we persist without any kind of due consideration as if our collective mental acuity has been turned off, and we hide our heads in the sand or else we follow each other over the proverbial cliff to extinction. ~llaw
