Following is an unavoidable, on my part, partial theft — to read the entire Manifesto, read the entire story from today’s timely article from LLAW’s NUCLEAR WORLD’S NEWs. This story is a sad but wonderfully, hopefully, told article for today and on into the foreseeable future from the “Union of Concerned Scientists”. The link is posted just below as well as in the section Nuclear War Threats of the nuclear stories in the media articles of nuclear categories listed in the sections down below

Please, if at all possible, take the time to read, understand, and react to this story that has not been properly told for a very long time until now . . .

“Here, then, is the problem stripped for 70 years, which we, who care for the future, present to you, stark and dreadful and inescapable with this question:

Shall we put an end to the human race; or shall mankind renounce war? There lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge, and wisdom. Shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? We appeal as human beings to human beings: Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. If you can do so, the way lies open to a new Paradise; if you cannot, there lies before you the risk of universal death.” ~a Manifesto from 1955 written by Bartrand Russell and signed by both Russell and Albert Einstein as well as other prominent scientists . . .”

And here we are obviously for a very long time ignored by the nuclear war world of three nations at the time — The United States, Russia, and Britain, but 70 years later there are nine countries and a world of ever greater dissention and fear faced with the possibility of nuclear war, the Manifesto virtually totally ignored the whole time.

What on Earth do we suppose is going to be done about it at this late date? Probably nothing, unless we have a miraculous awakening, with that being extremely doubtful, therefore notwithstanding the greatest miracle ever, as of today and tomorrow even more discouragingly perilous, our world is harking back to the insane concept of flooding the planet with more and more nuclear power plants, which are just as dangerous as nuclear war, if not moreso, and without doubt, just by the numbers, more available and more likely to cause global catastrophe and to guarantee the death of humanity and other earthly life. ~llaw
