I cannot help but continue to wonder if Trump’s caveman method of dealing with Iran is creating a void that is so large that Russia and China will take Iran under their wings and use the hatred dumped on Iran by the United States, Israel, and the possibly the United Nations. Apparently Iran has no intention of meeting with the U.S. at all in an effort to restore nuclear-based talks that could renew a mutual opportunity for a agreement similar to the old Obama-based agreement that Trump destroyed, which has actually been responsible for much of the world’s tension about Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Iran has decided to bypass all future USA talks and possible agreements in favor of cover from both Russia and China. This, then becomes an even more dangerous political situation than ever before . . .
Iran’s Foreign Ministry officially confirmed that trilateral nuclear talks with Russia and China are set to take place in Tehran at the Director General level, with the Snapback Mechanism a key topic of discussion. Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei noted that the consultations had been productive over the past year and emphasized that, although cooperation with Russia and China is ongoing, there are no plans at present for direct talks with the United States.
That is not a good situation, and Trump’s never-ending undiplomatic bullying exacerbates the scenario by announcing, ‘We will do it again, if necessary!’, referring to his previous attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. I can only wonder why that would ever be “necessary” since he announced to the world the very next day after the bombing that the USA has already “obliterated” them.
As the tension grows, we can only wait and see what the final outcome will be, but I doubt anything good or helpful will come of it — especially for the United States and Israel who may end up with no international allies other than themselves. ~llaw
