On My Mind Today:
In just another week, on July 31, I will Post #1,000 on this anti-all-things-nuclear blog. Actually there are more than the the numbers indicate because there was a lengthy period when I did not count the Saturday and Sunday versions because there was no commentary regarding the daily nuclear categories that were simply the weekend’s media articles for reference for my own edification and for the few of you readers who were actually interested in whatever nuclear world stories might be important on weekends.
Still, though, some of those weekend Posts were important in order to maintain the flow of some stories, such as the Russia/Ukraine war, that had important ongoing news because a war doesn’t take time-out for Saturday and Sunday.
Recognizing that, a short time ago I altered the format of the blog to include weekend commentary and my thoughts and began adding the weekends to the total blog count. I intend to continue on with the new format, although it has not yet been cast in a hard core format just yet as I make adjustments to the daily Posts.
Substack is the base for the several other media and social outlets that I use for distribution of the blog, and the site provides an excellent and fitting format for my particular Posts, and that will not change because I know I couldn’t find a better layout and configuration for what “LLAW’s NUCLEAR WORLD TODAY is all about, and the daily Posts are free — and will always be, although a caring ‘sponsor’ would be welcome — to both the writer and the readers — which brings me to the point of this subjective but essentially non-nuclear Post.
My original concept or the blog was, and still is, an attempt to provide what I consider to be the most important and dangerous subject on planet Earth because nuclear “everything” affects all human and other living species around the universal world(s), and I, having a long-time background from the heyday of nuclear power proliferation during the 1960s, ‘70s, and early ‘80s up until the 3 Mile Island, Fukushima, and Chernobyl accidents and other issues began a long period of general distaste for all things nuclear. But during the 2020s thus far I have seen a potential unbearable turn-around in the demand for more of all kinds of energy and threats of nuclear war that are perhaps are on the verge of becoming more than just political threats that keeps today’s peace even though no major international pacts and agreements remain, but a semblance of peace exists through a power struggle among the 9 nuclear powers with weapons of mass destruction and their existing potential for warfare — in particular Russia, the United States, and possibly China and North Korea.
So here we are, dealing with a schizophrenia-like double-standard fearing nuclear war while gradually also once again warming to nuclear power. This is, in my opinion, pure human insanity at work, and both uses of nuclear energy are capable of ending most life, and both can be used for nuclear war whether they are nuclear bombs or nuclear power plants.
This cannot stand if human and other life is to continue thriving, and yet I see a very simple and clear path to human extinction and other life if we do not as-soon-as-possible rid ourselves of “All Things Nuclear”.
I have never considered with this daily effort anything more than a large concerned readership — and never will — for my world-warning Posts, but I have hoped for a huge world-wide readership eventually because if we fail to come together and rid ourselve4s of “all things nuclear” we are destined, so far as I can see, toward extinction. That was and is my sole purpose for beginning this blog and continuing on with it today. It is an effort to save the human world from itself, and have hoped to tie together many other anti-nuclear organizations to a compassionate chorus of trying to save us from ourselves.
I chose Facebook as the “best” social and news outlet for the blog, mostly because there are apparently more than 3-billion of us world-wide who subscribe to the Facebook communications system. But Facebook, partly because of its own disregard and misunderstanding of my purpose (they call what I have to say negative and hateful, which is just the opposite of what it is, of course), and mostly because what I thought would bring enthusiastic readers on board to help spread the “Word” around the world. I had a good reason for believing that my concept, with lots of “friends” was realistic and valid because of a previous rush to this very same Facebook website shortly after I signed up to it and wrote about interest in a personal “UFO” story that I just happened to post, but it appears Facebook users are more excited and interested about UFOs than they are about “all things nuclear” and saving their own lives from the most dangerous substance on the planet . . .
Just know that LLAW’s NUCLEAR WORLD TODAY is not directed at my own lifestyle, financial gain, nor even my own life. I am simply an old (83+) man who knows a lot about nuclear energy and humanity’s lack of understanding of its inevitable ability to destroy life forever if we continue on with it, along with our collective limited knowledge about how and why it can lead to our eventual extinction. ~llaw
