On My Mind Today:
It is a quiet and cheerful Sunday here in Reno, Nevada, except for the news of nuclear threats from Trump once again threatening to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, in order to “wipe it out faster“ contradicting that he had once, not long ago, bragged that he had succeeded in “demolishing” their nuclear program, and Putin wreaking “holy hell” on Ukraine and the constant drumbeat of related threats of nuclear war, according to Sunday’s nuclear media news. If only world politics and war were nothing more than a fictional tale, all would be well. We all could wish as much.
And, speaking of fictional tales, for me at least, as I work “feverishly” on my next novel “El Nuclear Diablo” that I hope to publish late next spring, having finally recovered from a long-stifling block in the geography and the added difficulty of adapting two important main characters into the opening chapters of the story — both of which had been causing me trouble since I had first begun the tale a few years ago — but were then, and still are, key to the organization and story-line of the entire flow of the tome. The problem was resolved, not by me, but an actual change in the student-body of a small college in rural California that I had found impossible to work around.
The novel, when finished, will clearly point out that nuclear war is not at all the only life-threatening beginning and end-all of mankind’s demise, but more about how the ever-growing use of nuclear power to accommodate humanity’s immense demand for electricity can go dramatically and diametrically wrong, creating a very real similar threat to life on planet Earth as, say, WWIII. ~llaw
